PIA – Pakistan in Anger!

The events which unfolded at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad on Tuesday have a lot to say about the state of the political economy of Pakistan. The present quagmire occurred when the management of PIA transferred a number of air routes to the well known Turkish Airlines. Recently, a similar event was witnessed in Karachi, where the employees of KESC protested after approximately 5000 people were fired for supposed cost cutting. The KESC protests started in a peaceful manner, but it didn’t take long for such instances in this country to get a little out of hand, and ultimately it did. A number of people were injured when the protests turned violent, and there was considerable amount of losses inflicted on both property and the lives of people.
